Shenington airfield is an unlicensed private farm strip where gliding operations take precedence at all times. Tarmac and grass runway surfaces are not maintained to licensed airfield standards and may present hidden obstacles especially at changes of surface. Beware of Intense Gliding Activity in the vicinity of the airfield and always keep a good lookout for gliders. Gliders can approach at high speed and at low level from any direction and may land on any part of the airfield. Winch and aerotow launching must be assumed to be in progress at all times with winch cables up to 2,000' AGL.Winch cables are a particular hazard even when laid on the ground. Powered aircraft must not land, take-off or taxi across a cable run. Overhead joins are prohibited due to the risk of collision with a cable. Note that runway 05L/05R has an earth bank across the threshold.
