Looking for a unique gift with a difference?
A Gift Voucher from Shenington Gliding Club is the ideal present for Christmas / Birthday / Father's Day / Weddings / etc.

Your lesson will be in a two-seater glider with a BGA qualified instructor. You will be launched to approximately 1,200 ft from the winch or 2,000 ft on aerotow and your instructor will demonstrate the effects of the controls and allow you to "have a go".

More than just a gift!
All trial lessons give you 3months free temporary membership of Shenington Gliding Club. This means you can return as a temporary member and fly at Club Rates for the next month.

After your FREE 3 months trial if you think gliding is for you, then join the club.

What is a .....................

WINCH LAUNCH -  The winch has several thousand feet of cable attached to the sailplane's center of gravity, usually located under the nose of the glider.
As the winch reels in this cable, the glider starts rolling, gets air flowing over its wings, generates lift, and takes off.
The sailplane climbs at a steep angle, similar to launching a kite.
At altitude, and while there is still 1000+ feet of cable or more left, the glider pilot will release the rope and fly away.

AEROTOW - This involves towing a glider to a suitable altitude behind a powered aircraft.
At the tail of the towplane is attached a 200 foot rope to a hook located in the nose area of the glider. As the towplane climbs it pulls the glider up with it and both pilots fly in formation. At a suitable altitude, the glider pilot releases the tow rope and flies away. The tow rope remains attached to the towplane as it returns to the ground.

Small Print
Gliding is very weather dependent. It is impossible to predict the length of your flight, although every effort will be made to ensure you get the best and safest flight for the weather conditions. We recommend you telephone the clubhouse (01295 688 121) before setting out to check that the weather is suitable.

Trial lessons are available to anyone in reasonable health and aged 12 or over (this is a local club rule). Please note for safety reasons there is a minimum height restriction of 4ft 6in and a maximum weight restriction of 242 lbs.

Gliding is a continuing changing sport and we at Shenington Gliding Club have to recognise this fact, therefore from time to time some details of your flights may change from the time of booking. We hold the right to change any part of your trial flight structure & membership without prior notice
