Memorable Flights

No history of the club could be complete without recognition of notable flights. There have been many memorable flights made from Shenington, here are just a flavour;

* 1st flight Thursday 29th March 1990. Reg Curwen in the Ka2b - 15minutes from an Aero tow launch, also flying that day were Paul Gibbs, Brian Badger, Bruce Hopkins, Colin Edmunds and Graham College

* 26th May 1990 first winch launch (Reg again!)

* 1994 site height record set be Simon Adlard in local wave conditions - around 11,800ft.

* Also in June of 1994, the club did 109 flights in one day (believed to still stand as a club record)

* 1995 Steve Bradford completed 300km in his Fauvette.

* The summer of 1995 also saw the first 'channel hop' from Shenington

* August 1998, Martin Moss from Bowland Forest Gliding Club completed the first recorded 500km flight from Shenington, soon to be followed by Leigh wells on 1st June 1999. (There are however stories of Peter Day completing this distance about 5 years before).
